Healthy, high-performing, and motivated employees are the greatest asset of successful companies. Frequent absences and extended periods of illness are often accompanied by unresolved questions and uncertainty as to whether the affected employee can continue to perform their previous job for health reasons. Therefore, the legislature provides for the introduction of a company integration management program to maintain the health and work capacity of all employees.
Since 2004, employers have been required to initiate a company integration program if an employee has been ill for more than six weeks continuously or repeatedly. This is based on Section 84, Paragraph 2 of the German Social Code (SGB IX). The legal obligation to implement company integration management aims to permanently secure the employment relationship through appropriate preventive health measures.
