Competence Center

The "Competence Center" project helps people with significant support needs discover their professional skills, develop personal strengths, and create a realistic career path. The goal is to actively engage participants, strengthen their practical skills, and gradually introduce them to the job market. During the six-month program, they have the opportunity to gain practical experience in various vocational settings , exploring their interests, abilities, and professional potential. Through practical activities and individualized support, barriers to employment are identified and gradually addressed. Participants develop their own strategies and gain greater confidence in their professional actions. Intensive support from social workers and individual counseling assists them in their personal and professional development. If needed, they receive guidance with career orientation, job searching, and the application process. The primary objective is to facilitate access to the job market and prepare participants for further support services. Ideally, their participation leads to employment subject to social security contributions, which is stabilized through additional support if required.

Target audience

Participants are migrants of all ages with

• low German language skills of all nationalities,
• low labor market orientation as well as
• low or unclear professional skills.

The participants have sufficient German language skills to follow the content of the respective measure and to be able to successfully participate in the measure.

Goals

• Identification and activation of the participants' professional skills
• Introduction to the German education and employment system
• Learning about the framework and requirements of various training programs and professional fields, and the working world in general, while imparting the job-related language skills necessary for professional integration.
• Teaching/expansion of job-related language skills
• Career guidance, company internships and, if applicable, starting an apprenticeship

Phase 1 | Four-week introductory phase

Duration & Course

Once the job center has commissioned the position, entry is possible at any time.

The program is generally limited to a period of six months and takes place in person. An extension of the participation period is possible in consultation with the job center.
