“Darmstadt reads” on World Literacy Day 2024

On September 8, 2024, it's that time again: World Literacy Day reminds us how important reading and writing are for every person. In cooperation with the Science City of Darmstadt, the AlphaGrund vernetzt and Grundbildung @ Darmstadt projects would like to honor this special day with an inspiring event. Under the motto "Darmstadt Reads," we invite everyone interested to a diverse program that not only celebrates the joy of reading but also draws attention to the importance of literacy and basic education. A book market and a reading with Michael Kibler are the highlights of the event. Of course, there will also be coffee, cake, and a storytime for children and the young at heart.

Book market

The highlight of the event is a book market. Here, visitors can browse, discover new literary treasures, and purchase them at affordable prices. A diverse selection of books from various genres and for all ages will be found here.

Reading with Michael Kibler

Another highlight of the program is a reading by renowned Darmstadt author Michael Kibler. Known for his gripping crime novels, Kibler will recite selected passages from his current books and transport the audience into the world of his stories.
We look forward to an inspiring day full of stories, conversations, and a shared passion for reading. Come along, bring your friends and family—together we'll make "Darmstadt Reads" an unforgettable experience!
