Introduction to the labor market - migrant women

Women with a migration background bring with them very different life, employment, and educational backgrounds. For many of these women, entering the German workforce is completely new. They must grapple with the demands of the labor market, develop a sense of their skills, and learn how to use them effectively. The AVGS supports participants in this development as well as with problems and concerns in their personal lives.

Target group

Women with a migration background [child supervision is guaranteed during group activities].

Goals

• Getting to know the basics, requirements and career opportunities in various professional fields
• Determination of suitability, practical insights into professional contexts
• Low-threshold, job-related project work with real-life relevance
• Development of strategies for reconciling family and career
• Creating the conditions for starting training/employment or for further qualification and advisory services

Content & Services

• General principles, living and working in Germany and the region
• Information about the education system, training paths, professions in Germany and the region
• Access regulations, competent authorities, counselling and support facilities and childcare options
• Career orientation
• Job search and application
• Get to know the requirements in different professional areas
• Vocational German lessons

Duration & Course

The participation period is 24 weeks:

• Group courses on 3 days a week, each lasting 4 lessons (total 288 lessons)
• additional weekly individual coaching session per participant

Financial support

The prerequisite is the presence of an activation and placement voucher (AVGS). This is issued by case managers at the job center or employment agents at the employment agency.
