German language courses for vocational purposes [DeuFöV]
A language learning program for people with a migration background who want to improve their chances on the German job market.
Target audience
The course is aimed at people with a migration background [immigrants, asylum seekers from countries with a high protection rate, EU citizens, Germans with a migration background].
Participation requires completion of an integration course or at least a B1 level of German according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Proof of language proficiency can be provided by a certificate from the last six months or by passing an entrance test at BWHW.
Goals
Depending on language skills and needs, there are basic and specialized modules, each concluding with a certificate exam on the achieved language level.
Currently, BWHW offers the following special module: A2 to B1; B1 to B2 and B2 to C1.
Content & Services
- Teaching German language skills for professional purposes [vocabulary, idioms, grammar]
- Understanding and writing different types of texts [letters, emails, reports, factual texts, etc.]
- Preparation for working life and starting a career [conducting job interviews, reading employment contracts, etc.]
Duration & Course
The courses comprise 400/500 teaching units (TU) of 45 minutes each. Depending on the location, these can be conducted full-time [4-5 teaching units per day] or part-time.

The next B2 courses are expected to start in January and February 2025.
Darmstadt:
B2 vocational language course full-time in the morning in face-to-face classes

Financial support
Funding requires reliable course attendance. If you are interested in participating, please contact your employment advisor at the employment agency or job center. They will provide you with a certificate of eligibility to participate in a suitable module. If you are already employed or in vocational training, registration is handled directly by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees [deufoe.koeln@bamf.bund.de].
