Activation assistance for young refugees

The project "Activation Support for Young Refugees" helps young refugees and migrants orient themselves in the German education and job market and develop realistic career prospects. Over six to eight months, participants discover their personal strengths and interests, receive information about training, employment, and various career fields, and are gradually introduced to the job market. Existing barriers, particularly in the areas of language, career choice, and applications, are specifically addressed and removed. In addition, job-related German language skills and basic digital skills are taught, and support is offered with applications and, if necessary, with the recognition of qualifications. During a practical work placement, participants can explore different career fields and gain practical experience. Individual support from a job coach, social worker, and language instructor assists participants in their professional and personal development. The primary goal is to secure an apprenticeship , or alternatively, further training or employment.

Target audience

The target group includes, in particular, young people under 35 years of age who are aiming for vocational training in the future.

• Asylum seekers or tolerated persons with access to the labor market,
• Those entitled to asylum and recognized refugees are,
• Foreign nationals who have come to Germany as part of family reunification and possess a residence permit according to § 27 para. 5 of the Residence Act,
• Migrants who, due to their personal situation [e.g., refugee background, lack of orientation in the German education and employment system, lack of motivation to undertake training in an unfamiliar education system], face obstacles or require special support due to social adjustment difficulties in a foreign socio-cultural environment, in order to motivate them to undertake education and/or vocational training and to gradually introduce them to the training market,
• have completed compulsory full-time education
• do not possess any initial vocational training recognized in Germany,
• have little or no professional experience,
• possess language skills that allow them to follow the content of the measure and
• due to personal reasons, they cannot be integrated without this support, or not yet.

Goals

• Introduction to the German education and employment system

• Learning about the framework and requirements of various training programs and professional fields, and the working world in general, while imparting the job-related language skills necessary for professional integration.

• Career guidance, company internships and, if applicable, starting an apprenticeship

• Teaching/expansion of job-related language skills

Duration & Course

Entry is possible on an individual basis. The assignment period is 6-8 months. The activation support project for young refugees is implemented at the Friedberg location in combination with the " Vocational Qualification Language Support Plus [BQS+] " program.
