MINT.ice

The MINT.ice project is being carried out by BWHW as part of the Hessian STEM action line in the Wetterau district.
MINT.ice expands the regular range of career guidance offered by schools and by the career counselling service of the Federal Employment Agency.

Target audience

The MINT.ice project is aimed at students in the 7th and 8th grades of secondary schools in the Wetterau district.

Participating schools:

  • Adolf Reichwein School in Friedberg
  • Erich Kästner School in Rosbach vd Höhe
  • Konradsdorf Comprehensive School in Ortenberg
  • Henry-Benrath-School in Friedberg

Goals

The aim is to inspire students to pursue careers in STEM fields. In particular, playful experimentation, company visits, and career-oriented modules foster understanding and interest.

Content & Services

Over the course of a school year, a group of 10 students explores the three fields of computer science, chemistry/biology, and electronics. The hands-on, experiential practical sessions are led by qualified professionals from BWHW.

To give students an insight into the professional world of STEM careers, company visits are organized. During these visits to partner companies, students have the opportunity to talk with current apprentices and discuss the possibility of completing an internship.

The career guidance service of the employment agency will be involved in the project in an accompanying capacity.

Participants receive a certificate of completion for their career choice portfolio.

Duration & Course

Entry into the project is via the participating schools.

The program takes place once a week as part of the school's afternoon activities and lasts for a full school year.
