JoPraS – Job · Practice · Language is aimed at people with a refugee or migration background who receive benefits under the German Social Code Book II (SGB II) and have limited German language skills.

Target audience

JoPraS – Job · Practice · Language is aimed at people with a refugee or migrant background who receive benefits under the German Social Code, Book II (SGB II) and have limited German language skills (from language level A1). The program supports participants in expanding their language and professional skills and preparing for the training or job market.

Goals

The project aims to gradually introduce participants to the training and job market. In addition to improving their job-related German language skills, the project develops career prospects, imparts professional knowledge, and prepares participants for sustainable integration into employment.

Content & Services

The program includes an individual assessment of skills and language proficiency, the development of key and intercultural competencies, application training, and information about the job market. Participants also receive practical career guidance in the following areas:

• Warehouse and logistics (obtaining the forklift operator's license)
• Housekeeping and building cleaning (instruction according to § 43 of the Infection Protection Act)
• Sale (obtaining the receipt)
• Catering (instruction according to § 43 of the Infection Protection Act).

The program combines vocational German language instruction with practical exercises and workplace trials. Throughout the entire program, participants receive individual support from job coaches, social workers, and subject-matter and German language teachers to specifically assist them in entering vocational training or employment.

Duration & Course

Participation typically covers a period of three months with a weekly workload of 20 hours.

Financial support

The project is being carried out by the Education Association of the Hessian Economy (Bildungswerk der Hessischen Wirtschaft e. V.) on behalf of the Gießen Job Center. Participation is by referral from the Gießen Job Center.
