MitSprache – Deutsch4U

“MitSprache – Deutsch4U” (D4U) is a low-threshold language support program for newly arrived immigrants and refugees, which is geared towards the needs of the participants.

Target audience

The courses are aimed at adults with varying levels of prior language knowledge and are organized according to the needs of the participants' language levels.

Goals

D4U was developed to meaningfully complement existing federal language support programs and facilitate transitions between them. The goal is to close the gaps that arise between initial language support, integration courses, and subsequent vocational training, while simultaneously creating new learning opportunities for groups that are only partially reached by existing programs. The program is aimed at legally and permanently residing third-country nationals. Participants hold a residence permit, are generally already integrated into German society, and are navigating the transition between language acquisition, social integration, and career orientation. Flexible learning conditions promote language practice where it is needed: in their immediate living environment.

Content & Services

The lessons cover everyday topics such as family, health, housing, education, work, dealing with authorities, mobility, and communication in various life situations. In addition to classroom instruction, practical learning opportunities, information sessions, and visits to relevant institutions may be offered. This strengthens not only language skills but also the participants' ability to act independently and autonomously in everyday life.

Content & Services

The courses take place in six-month blocks. The planned timeframes are:

• September 1, 2026 to February 28, 2027
• March 1, 2027 to August 31, 2027
• September 1, 2027 to February 29, 2028
