Learn German with literacy
The "Integration Course with Literacy" of the Bildungswerk der Hessischen Wirtschaft eV [BWHW] offers adult immigrants who are not sufficiently literate the opportunity to learn German in a small group.
Target group
The offer is aimed at immigrants who have only limited or no familiarity with the Latin alphabet and who cannot attend a general integration course due to a lack of or insufficient written language skills.
The prerequisite for admission is a certificate of eligibility or commitment from a job center or the immigration office.
Goals
- Functional literacy
- Master the vocabulary needed for speaking, reading, understanding and writing in everyday life
- Be able to read letters, addresses, newspapers, etc. and fill out forms without help
- Important information about German history, legal system and politics
Content & Services
- Individual support of learners through small groups
- Building a vocabulary in writing and speaking, as well as teaching grammar and oral skills
- Instruction in learning strategies and techniques that promote self-learning
- Preparation for the German Test for Immigrants [DTZ] and the "Living in Germany" test
Duration & Course
The integration course consists of a language course with 900 teaching units [45-minute teaching units], divided into a basic language course [300 teaching units] and an advanced language course A + B [600 teaching units, as well as a subsequent orientation course with 100 teaching units].
The course ends with the German Test for Immigrants [DTZ] + Test "Living in Germany"
Financial support
The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees [BAMF] may cover the course costs.
An application is required for this; funding also requires reliable participation in the course.
