BASEplus - Counseling and outreach social work for EU immigrants

Target audience

• EU immigrants of all ages and social classes; primarily Bulgarians and Romanians

• People from the host society who feel disturbed by EU immigrants in their neighborhood or community

Goals

• Reduction and sustainable prevention of neighborhood, intercultural conflicts

• Integration of immigrant EU citizens into their communities

• Creating a broader information base for immigrants about life in Germany

Content & Services

Open consultation hours:

• Regular open consultation hours in Limburg
• Weekly open consultation hours in the three hotspot municipalities [Elz, Hadamar and Beselich]
• Support with applications [Employment Agency, Job Center, Family Benefits Office, Health Insurance Funds, Social Welfare Office, Youth Welfare Office, etc.]
• Translate official letters and compile required documents
• Appointment scheduling [doctor, lawyer, debt counseling, etc.]
• Phone calls with health insurance companies, bailiffs, telephone providers, energy suppliers, etc.
• Review of rental agreements, employment contracts, etc.

Outreach social work:

• In families

• In daycare centers & schools

• Discussions with employers to improve precarious employment conditions

• Monthly information events, alternating between the location in Limburg and the local communities, aimed at immigrants and the host society.
• Monthly parents' café, aimed at immigrants and the host society
• Monthly Intercultural Breakfast
• Sports activities
• Cultural events
