Work-oriented literacy and basic education for adults

Optimize operational processes, ensure quality, and attract skilled workers: Work-oriented basic training (ABV) is worthwhile, especially in light of demographic change and the demand for skilled workers. It helps utilize the professional potential of semi-skilled and unskilled workers. More than four million employees in Germany are illiterate. The increasing demands of the workplace, in particular, present these people with enormous difficulties – when working on computers, navigating their way around the workplace, learning new processes, and engaging in daily communication. Misunderstandings, uneven work processes, and declining motivation are the consequences, which also affect colleagues and superiors. The "AlphaGrund vernetzt" project supports this with free funding for the qualification of employees in companies.

This project is funded within the framework of the AlphaDecade 2016-2026 with funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) under the funding code W1512AOG.

AlphaGrund is coordinated and scientifically supported by the Cologne Institute for Economic Research. Detailed information can be found at www.alphagrund-projekt.de
