breakthrough
The "Breakthrough" project supports educationally disadvantaged students in achieving a vocational qualification. Through a collaboration between the Mühltalschule Eberstadt, the BWHW in Darmstadt, the Waldoni Circus Project in Eberstadt, the Werkhof Darmstadt, and the Federal Employment Agency, under the leadership of the Mobile Practice Darmstadt, the project aims to empower students to gain access to the primary labor market.
Target group
Pupils at the Mühltalschule special school who find it difficult to transition into training through the conventional school or vocational training route.
Goals
- Support in achieving a vocational qualification, in individual cases the secondary school leaving certificate
- Assistance in finding further education after school
Content & Services
We offer customized collaboration and target group-oriented support through a combination of:
- Career orientation through different content and methodological impulses
- Computer-based competency assessments
- Individual career preparation through internships, project days and workshops
- Polytechnical instruction in metal or wood workshops
- "Knigge instructions" to refine manners
Throughout their school years, students receive support and advice from network staff; parents are continuously involved. This results in a long-term improvement in academic and social skills. All partners recognize the individual support opportunities and needs of the participants, and appropriate support is provided.
Duration & Course
The pupils begin in the 5th grade and complete their compulsory schooling according to the curriculum until the 9th grade.
