Career Orientation Program [BOP]

The career orientation program of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research is aimed at eighth-grade students. This program, commissioned by the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training, is designed to develop career choice skills for students.

Target audience

In cooperation with three schools in the Odenwald district, the BO days are aimed at their students from the eighth grade of the secondary and intermediate school sector.

Goals

The career orientation program [BOP] offers students practical days for career orientation [BO days].

• Promoting initial realistic ideas about the professional world
• Promoting practical experience
• Discovering and fostering individual interests and strengths
• Promoting career choices without gender barriers
• Expanding the range of career choices
• Preparing for decisions regarding education and career choice

Content & Services

We offer realistic insights into typical tasks of eight professions:

• Education and pedagogy
• Home economics
• trade
• Warehousing, logistics and transport
• IT
• Metal and electrical
• Color, interior design, wood
• Motor vehicles, construction and agricultural machinery

Over the course of 10 days, the students explore three different professions mentioned above. They are guided by specialists and supported in their reflection processes by educational staff.

The BO days complement the potential analyses carried out in schools and support and promote the individual development of a young person in career orientation.

This also includes individual discussions, joint reflection phases and an individual final discussion.

Duration & Course

Dates for the 10-day practical trial will be set by BWHW together with the schools.

The practice-oriented BO days take place over 10 consecutive days at the BWHW Michelstadt premises.
